British Citizenship

Becoming a British citizen gives you the right to a UK passport, the right to vote, and the security of permanent belonging. Whether you are applying by naturalisation (adults) or registration (children), Guide Bridge makes the process straightforward.

Naturalisation requirements

You must be 18 or over, hold ILR or EU Settled Status, have lived in the UK for at least 5 years (3 if married to a British citizen), not have been outside the UK for more than 450 days in the 5-year period (or 270 days in the 3-year period), not have been outside the UK for more than 90 days in the final 12 months, be of good character, and pass the Life in the UK test and English requirement.

Good character

The Home Office assesses criminal history, tax compliance, immigration history, and general conduct. We review your record honestly and advise whether to apply now or wait, and how to present any issues in the best light.

Registration for children

Children born in the UK who are not automatically British, or children born outside the UK to British citizens, can often be registered as British. The rules are complex and depend on the parents' status at the time of birth. We untangle the correct route for your child.

How Guide Bridge helps

We assess your eligibility against every requirement, check your residence and absence history, prepare the application with all supporting documents, advise on the ceremony and passport application, and handle any complications or delays.
